Certificate in Counselling Skills

The training provides a comprehensive introduction to counselling skills which can be applied to a range of professional groups who work directly with people.

The programme is designed to be delivered directly for organisations and is tailored to suit the needs of people working in different settings for example: Counselling Skills for staff who support People with Dementia, Counselling Skills for people working with HIV, Counselling Skills for HR Professionals and Counselling Skills for Support Workers. The course provides a solid grounding in communication skills and the practice of establishing effective relationships. It can also be a stepping stone onto the Diploma Programme.

The course is suitable for anyone interested in developing their "people skills". It is ideally suited to individuals who work in health, education or social care who want to enhance their listening skills and understanding of interpersonal relationships in a work setting. It is also ideal for individuals who are interested in people and what makes them tick and who wish to become better communicators. The course is interactive, practical and grounded in the Person-Centred approach which emphasises the importance of relationships and open communication.

The programme is organised into four main themes with each theme involving at least one full day of training. This basic programme can also be extended to include specialist topics: for example: Working with Anger or Working with Children and Young People.

The programme can be delivered in our office in Motherwell however we are also able to provide the programme in other locations to suit the requirements of the client organisation.

The certificate course is only delivered as a bespoke programme for organisations.
